How do I check my 2020 matric results

It has been a long wait, and you cannot resist the urge of finding out about your 2020 matric results. They will be released on Tuesday, 23rd February 2021, after Umalusi gave the Department of Basic Education (DBE) the go-ahead.


Below are some methods that you should consider when trying to get those matric results as soon as possible to cool that urge. DBE or Independent Examinations Board (IEB) website for online matric results


For learners from public schools or schools administering matric assessments according to CAPS …

  • Visit the DBEʼs website (press here) to fill in your details and then get your marks

  • You will need your matric examination number, personal details and home language information

For learners from private schools or schools administering matric assessments according to the IEB …

  • Visit the IEB website (press here) to fill in your details and then get your marks

  • You will need your matric examination number and date of birth

SMS

  • Best to register in advance for this SABC Education Matric Results service

  • Send your matric examination number to 45856

  • Your matric examination number will be verified

  • Results will be sent to your phone when they are released

  • Every SMS costs R1.50

  • For inquiries, contact its call center on 011 507 4630, Monday–Friday, 08:00–17:00

  • On the day of the release, the call center will operate from midnight to 17:00

USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) using a cell phone

  • Best to register in advance for this SABC Education Matric Results service

  • Dial *120*45856*

  • Type your matric examination number

  • Results will be sent to your phone when they are released

  • Every minute costs R1.50

  • For inquiries, contact its call center on 011 507 4630, Monday–Friday, 08:00–17:00

  • On the day of the release, the call center will operate from midnight to 17:00

Newspapers


Well-established newspapers, such as The Star, publish matric results on the day they are released. These publications provide information about the type of certificate a person has obtained. It is done using matric examination numbers and passing symbols like the letter B for Bachelors Pass and D for Diploma.


Getting results from your school


Schools will release matric results at 08:00 on Tuesday, 23rd February 2021. By visiting your school, you will be able to get your matric result statement and see the mark of each subject.


News websites


Some national news websites tend to publish results on the same day when they are issued, simply informing you whether you have passed or not. A couple of them may provide you with information about where to get your scores online. News24 is a good example.


Calling DBE


Although the DBE will be overwhelmed with calls from different people during the matric results period, you may call its officials to get your marks, but you may be on the phone call for a while before anyone responds. JTs
